Mtatsminda is Tbilisi's historic centre: Sololaki, Mtatsminda and Vera around Rustaveli Avenue, Liberty Square and the funicular. Most buildings are old 2-4 storey houses with Italian courtyards; Vera mixes older blocks with new builds. Metro: Liberty Square and Rustaveli. The district also covers the hill suburbs of Tsavkisi, Shindisi, Okrokana, Tabakhmela, Kojori and Kiketi, where houses, summer cottages and land plots are sold. In the centre most flats are rented, monthly or by the day, and Rustaveli Avenue has many shops and offices for rent. The median asking price for a flat in the central quarters is about $2440 per m2, and a two-room flat rents for about $800 a month. The main streets are Leselidze (Kote Afkhazi), Asatiani, Machabeli, Galaktion Tabidze, Lermontov and Chonkadze.
