Gold price
This free tool shows today's gold price per gram and ounce in lari (GEL), manat (AZN), dram (AMD) and US dollars. Pick your country — Georgia, Azerbaijan or Armenia — and the local currency comes first. The karat calculator then values your gold: enter the weight in grams and the hallmark (999/24k, 916/22k, 750/18k, 585/14k, Soviet 583, 375/9k) and the value is worked out at the current price.
Source: cbar.az — official Central Bank of Azerbaijan bank-metal rates; the GEL price uses the official National Bank of Georgia (NBG) rate and the AMD price the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) rate (refreshed hourly).
How it works
The gold price comes from the official bulletin of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBAR); if CBAR is unreachable, an open market source is used. Data is refreshed on the server once an hour. The lari price uses the official National Bank of Georgia (NBG) USD rate and the dram price the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) USD rate. An ounce is converted to grams (1 ounce ≈ 31.1 g). The gold value = weight × karat purity × price per gram. Purity: 24k = 0.999, 22k = 0.916, 21k = 0.875, 18k = 0.750, 14k = 0.585, Soviet 583 = 0.583, 9k = 0.375.
Example
For 10 grams of 750 (18k) gold, the value = 10 × 0.75 × (current price per gram). Pick a country to see the result first in lari (Tbilisi, Marneuli), manat (Baku) or dram (Yerevan). The result is based on the hourly-refreshed price.
Frequently asked questions
How often does the price update?
Once an hour on the server.
What is karat?
Gold purity: 24k is pure, 18k is 75%, 14k is 58.5% gold.
Is this a buy-back price?
No — it's the official CBAR (Central Bank of Azerbaijan) rate; a jeweller's price may differ.
Is the tool free?
Yes — completely free.
Does the weight of a stone or clasp count?
The calculator treats every gram you enter as gold, so weighing a stone-set ring, a watch or a chain with its clasp gives a figure higher than the real value. Subtract the stones, the clasp and any non-gold parts, and enter only the weight of the gold itself. A jeweller does the same when buying: the stone is valued separately, or not counted at all.
How much is 1 gram of gold today?
The live indicator on this page shows today's price of 1 gram of gold in manat (AZN), dollars (USD) and lari (GEL). It is based on the official Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBAR) bulletin and refreshes hourly. Use the calculator above to value a specific karat (999, 750 or 585).
What is the difference between 999, 750 and 585 gold?
The hallmark shows how much pure gold the alloy contains: 999 (24k) is nearly pure gold and the most valuable; 750 (18k) is 75% gold; 585 (14k) is 58.5% gold and the most common standard in jewellery. The higher the hallmark, the more a gram is worth.
How much is 22k (916) gold worth?
916 means the alloy is 91.6% pure gold — that is 22 karat, a standard widely used for wedding jewellery in the region. Pick 22k in the karat list, enter the weight, and the value is worked out at the current price: 10 grams of 916 gold = 10 × 0.916 × the price per gram. Because it holds more gold, 916 is worth noticeably more per gram than 585.
Why does a jeweller's price differ from the market price?
The market (spot) price is the price of the raw metal itself. A jeweller adds workmanship, shop margin and the cost of other metals in the alloy, so finished jewellery always costs more than spot — while pawnshops and buy-back counters pay below it.
How do I check the gold price when buying or selling in Marneuli or Tbilisi?
Before a deal at the Marneuli bazaar or a Tbilisi jeweller, check the live 1-gram price in lari here — it uses the official National Bank of Georgia (NBG) exchange rate. The spot price is your starting point for negotiation: buy-back offers usually sit below it, finished pieces above it.
What does the Soviet 583 hallmark mean, and what should I pick in the calculator?
583 is the Soviet-era hallmark — 58.3% pure gold in the alloy. After the USSR broke up the successor states moved to the international 585 standard (58.5%), so pieces made from 1994 onwards carry 585 instead. Both are 14 karat and the gap between them is just 0.2 percentage points, which is negligible in practice. If your ring or chain is stamped 583 (or carries the Soviet star hallmark), simply choose 14k (585) in the calculator — the result will be all but identical.
Is there VAT on gold bars or coins in Georgia?
From 1 January 2026 the supply and import of investment gold in Georgia — bars of at least 995 fineness and legal-tender coins of at least 900 fineness — are exempt from VAT. Jewellery does not qualify and still carries the standard 18% VAT. The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) itself sells gold coins, bars and gold certificates. Check the exact rule with the seller or rs.ge before buying.
How much is 1 gram of gold in Armenia in dram?
Pick Armenia in the country switch: the gram price is converted from the CBAR dollar price into dram (AMD) at the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) official USD rate. The CBA also publishes its own official gold price, so our cross-rate figure can differ slightly — treat it as a guide. Since 2008 gold jewellery sold in Armenia must carry the state hallmark (a David of Sasun image) and a fineness mark.
How is the gold price set in Baku?
In Azerbaijan the Central Bank (CBAR) publishes official bank-metal prices in manat every working day — the AZN figure on this page comes straight from that bulletin. Baku jewellers and pawnshops start from it but add workmanship and margin when selling and usually pay below it when buying.
