Arabkir is one of Yerevan's 12 administrative districts, just north of the city centre, with about 119,000 residents (2022 census). Its main road is Komitas Avenue, lined with shops and service centres. Well-known streets include Kievyan, N. Zaryan, H. Kochar, Mamikonyants, Griboedov, Vagharshyan, Papazyan and Adonts, and its neighbourhoods include Nor Arabkir, Mergelyan and Aygedzor. Barekamutyun metro station serves the district, and the American University of Armenia and the Russian-Armenian University are nearby. Arabkir is one of Yerevan's busiest new-build areas: about half of the apartments listed for sale are new builds or in shell condition.
