Unit converter

This free unit converter changes length, area, weight, volume, speed and temperature from one unit to another. Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia all use the metric system, and land plots in local listings are usually given in sotka (sot, 100 m²), square metres or hectares — the converter handles all three. It also helps with cars imported from the US: mileage and speed from miles to kilometres, and engine size from cc (cm³) to litres. Pick a category and units and enter a value — comma or dot decimals both work.

How the calculation works

Each unit's ratio to a base unit (metre, square metre, gram, litre, m/s) is stored; the value is converted first to the base and then to the target unit. The factors are exact international definitions: 1 mile = 1609.344 m, 1 pound = 453.59237 g, 1 sotka = 100 m² (the metric are), 1 hectare = 10,000 m². Temperature is handled separately with the Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin formulas. Everything runs in your browser.

Worked example

A 6-sotka plot is 600 m², or 0.06 hectares. 1 hectare is 100 sotka. 10 kilometres is 6.2137 miles; 60 mph on a US car's speedometer is about 96.56 km/h. A 1600 cc engine is 1.6 litres. 25 °C is 77 °F.

Frequently asked questions

How many square metres is one sotka (sot)?

1 sotka = 100 m² (a 10 × 10 m plot), the same as the metric are. So 1 hectare = 100 sotka = 10,000 m². Land listings in Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia use sotka, m² and hectares side by side.

How do I convert engine size from cc to litres?

1 litre = 1000 cc (cm³). For example, 1998 cc ≈ 2.0 L. Choose the Volume category with cm³ and L.

How do I convert mileage from miles to km?

1 mile = 1.609344 km. A US-imported car with 50,000 miles has about 80,467 km on it.

Which units are supported?

Length (km, m, cm, mm, mile, yard, foot, inch), area (sotka, m², hectare, km², sq ft, acre), weight (tonne, kg, g, lb, oz), volume (cm³, L, ml, m³, US gallon), speed (km/h, mph, m/s, knot) and temperature (°C, °F, K).

Is the result accurate?

Yes — exact standard conversion factors, rounded to 4 decimal places.
