IELTS score calculator
This free IELTS calculator works out your overall band from the four sections — Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Enter each section score and the tool shows the average and the overall band using the IELTS rounding rule.
How it's calculated
The overall band is the average of the four sections, rounded to the nearest half band. If the average ends in .25 it rounds up to .5; if it ends in .75 it rounds up to the next whole band. For example, 6.25 → 6.5 and 6.75 → 7.0. Each section is 0 to 9 in 0.5 steps.
Example
Listening 6.5, Reading 6.5, Writing 5.0, Speaking 7.0 averages 6.25, giving an overall band of 6.5. A difference in one section can change the result.
