How are speeding fines calculated?
Under Article 328, exceeding the limit by 10–20 km/h costs 10 AZN, 21–40 km/h costs 50 AZN, 41–60 km/h costs 200 AZN, and 61 km/h or more costs 300 AZN. Exceeding by less than 10 km/h carries no administrative fine. Some violations also add penalty points — collecting more than 20 points within a year can lead to a temporary suspension of the driving licence.
Example
Driving 95 km/h where the limit is 60 km/h means you are 35 km/h over — that falls in the 21–40 bracket, a 50 AZN fine. At 125 km/h (65 km/h over) the fine would be 300 AZN.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a fine for less than 10 km/h over?
No — the Code provides no administrative fine for exceeding the limit by less than 10 km/h.
