Georgia has implemented changes to lending regulations to promote domestic currency usage. Beginning July 1, 2026, residents whose income is denominated in Georgian Lari will only be able to obtain loans up to 1 million Lari exclusively in the national currency. The Financial Stability Committee raised the ceiling for unhedged foreign currency lending from 750,000 to 1 million Lari.
Alongside this policy shift, the central bank reduced commercial banks' reserve requirements by 5%.
