The Georgian government has allocated 8,081,647 lari from its reserve fund to partially finance events marking the nation's Independence Day on May 26th, according to a governmental decree issued on May 8th. The funding will support festive activities organized throughout Tbilisi and regional areas across the country.
The allocated resources will be directed toward organizing celebratory events, including the establishment of educational and entertainment spaces in Tbilisi at the 9 April Garden and surrounding areas of Orbeliani Street. A prestigious gala concert featuring invited musicians will be held and broadcast live, allowing citizens nationwide to participate in the commemoration.
A ceremonial observance will take place at 17:10, marking the precise moment when Georgia declared its independence. This solemn event will occur at the President's Palace and its surrounding territory. At this time, the Georgian national anthem will be played in train stations and aboard trains throughout the country, fostering national unity and pride among the population.
The allocated funds have been distributed among various government ministries. The Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture received 692,555 lari, while the State Minister's apparatus responsible for reconciliation and civil equality issues was allocated 660,220 lari.
