The government digital platform ekalata.gov.ge, designed to provide information about discounted basic consumer products, officially launched on June 24, 2026. The platform consolidates 12 major supermarket chains operating across Georgia, including Goodwill, Carrefour, Magnit, Two Steps, Kalata, Libre, Spar, Nikora, Universami, AgroHub, Daily, and Zghapari, ensuring broad market coverage and accessibility.

Financial support for the platform's development and maintenance proved essential to the project's success. On June 2, 2026, the government decree announced that the Ministry of Finance allocated 53,000 lari from the state reserve fund to the Competition and Consumer Protection Agency for creating and operating the electronic web platform for social basket and discounted products.

Through this unified digital service, Georgian citizens gained access to current information about discounted prices on essential everyday goods across multiple retail networks. The platform represents a key component of the government's social policy strategy and reflects commitment to improving consumer access to price information.

Ekalata enables shoppers to quickly compare prices on discounted basic goods and make informed purchasing decisions in real time. This initiative promotes market transparency and strengthens consumer positions in retail transactions.
