Avtokarkhana is a residential district in western Kutaisi, on the right bank of the Rioni, built around the former Kutaisi Automobile Plant. Its spine is Avtomshenebeli Avenue, with Kharebava, Petre Chkhobadze, Orakhelashvili and Kolkheti streets, the Avtokarkhana hospital, several public schools and the Giorgi Kvinitadze Cadet Military Lyceum. Bus No. 4 (Avtokarkhana - Paliashvili) links it to the centre. Most flats are in Soviet 5- and 9-storey blocks, plus some new builds sold in green or white frame.
